2016 Digital Counties Survey Award

The survey identifies the best technology practices among U.S. counties, including initiatives that save tax dollars through newfound efficiencies; boost transparency, cybersecurity and engagement; or innovate through unique and exciting projects.

Moving up 3 positions this year, Alameda County was ranked fourth for counties with populations of 500,000 or more. This year’s recognition includes a continued and growing effort for open data and transparent government, use of technology, collaboration and innovation. Some highlighted projects:

  • Open Budget¬†site redesign
  • Map1193¬†– a site to help the County track business compliance of California human trafficking laws
  • Collaboration with the East Bay Regional Communications System Authority to migrate disparate radio systems into a single network, giving more than 30 jurisdictions full radio interoperability
  • Participation in the Google Government Innovation Lab program
  • Millennial Task Force – to ensure that Alameda County is an employer of choice not just for the millennial generation, but employees of any age
